Govt relaxes movement of cloven-hoofed animals

FRANCISTOWN: Following the recent outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Matsiloje, the department of Veterinary services has revised movement of cloven-hoofed animals and their fresh products in some areas.

A press statement issued by the director of veterinary services, Dr. Phillemon Motsu last Friday reads in part: "

After the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) in Matsiloje, the department of veterinary services wishes to inform the general public that the veterinary movement protocol has been revised." It says that the movement of cloven-hoofed animas and their fresh products has been relaxed in all previously green zones (3c Mmatshumu area, 4a 4b, 5,8,9,10,11,12,13) except zones 6 and 3c Maitengwe area.
