GOVT plans to tough new measures to ensure food security

The Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) is to adopt tough new measures to ensure people who benefit from government programmes are committed to attaining national food security.

Agriculture minister, Christiaan De Graaff said on Friday at a press briefing on the status of Asian Fruit fly (Bactrocera invadens) confirmed in Chobe Farms mid June this year.

He said food security is an issue of national importance hence the need for collective responsibility - from both farmers and government in its pursuit.
