Govt evicts medics from quarters

FRANCISTOWN: Fourteen medical doctors at Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) who completed their internship are facing eviction after they refused to vacate government houses.

The notice of motion filed by the Attorney General yesterday at the Francistown High Court directs the respondents to vacate the said premises within 14 days of receiving the notice. The application filed before Justice Moses Chinhengo lists the terms as follows: "The application intends to make the application to this honourable court on a date to be set by the registrar for an order in the following terms; directing the respondents to vacate the premises belonging to the applicant, which they currently occupy, within 14 days of service of this order, failing which the deputy sheriff be authorised to evict them and any person claiming occupancy through or under them," states the application.

The notice further states that the applicant intends the defendant to pay for the cost of the application. In the founding affidavit of NRH Hospital Superintendent Dr Ewetse Mosweu stated that when the doctors resumed their duties they entered into a lease agreement.
