Govt, Collins settle out of court

Deputy Attorney General Abraham Keetshabe has confirmed that government has reached an out of court settlement with former High Court judge and now private legal consultant Peter Collins.

The agreement was reached last month. The case has now been concluded by way of a settlement out of court, Keetshabe said, adding that they had reached an agreement with Collins that the details would not be disclosed to the public.

We have agreed that the details are not for public consumption, he said.He stated that it is important to respect the agreement between the Attorney General and Collins. But information reaching Mmegi is that government has paid the salaries and benefits that were demanded by Collins in 2005 when he left the bench.
