Gov’t adjusts councillors’ salaries

Government has approved adjustment of salaries, housing, ward, hospitality, telephone and sitting allowances for all councillors by 5% with effect from April 1, 2022.

According to a press statement from the ministry of local government and rural development, the approval is in accordance with Section 92 of the Local Government Act of 2012, which provides that the Minister of Local Government and Rural Development may make regulations prescribing anything required for carrying out the purpose and intent of the Act, including salaries and allowances for Councillors.

Don't let FMD outbreak drag on
