Government 'celebrates' Gaddafi's fall

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has welcomed the fall of Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi, whom it accused of violations of fundamental human rights with the intention to "suppress the popular uprising by the Libyan people, who for a long time yearned for democratic transformation," a statement said on Friday.

 "Colonel Gaddafi's demise therefore marks an end of over 40 years of tyranny." Gaddafi was captured on Thursday in his home town of Sirte. According to reports, Gaddafi was found inside a drain following an assalt on his convoy by NATO troops.Gaddafi was seen on television being assaulted by the rebel soldiers before he was killed.(Compiled by Monkagedi Gaotlhobogwe)
