Government blundered on destitutes programme

BOBONONG: Bobonong central headmen have said that government made a serious mistake by introducing destitute rations.

Speaking during a consultative workshop organised by their area councillor, Njobo Ofentse recently, headmen castigated the efforts of the government and stated that it has killed the spirit of self-reliance.

Councillor Ofentse had briefed them that the Department of Social Welfare is faced with serious problems where even potential people especially the youth who could look for employment want to be enrolled in the destitute programme. He said this in turn defeats the efforts of the already overburdened government to help those who deserve to be in the programme.
