Gold Mine murder case resumes

FRANCISTOWN: A four-year-old Mupane Gold Mine murder case has finally resumed at the High Court after a 12-month delay caused by one of the accused persons.

Raymond Leshomo and Arnold Masango are jointly charged with the murder of their supervisor Mario Lottering at Mupane Gold Mine in the North East District on May 27, 2006. Leshomo had wanted to be represented by some of the high profile South African advocates including former Debswana managing director Louis Nchindo's advocate Peter Hodes (SC) at Botswana government expenses.

When the trial resumed yesterday, the prosecution indicated they intended to call 28 witnesses, but Leshomo's attorney Ernest Mosate of Mosate Attorneys admitted 23 of the witnesses including the statement of former District Commissioner (DC) Sylvia Muzila, who recorded Leshomo's confession statement.
