Give residents river sand-Letlhakeng West MP

DIPHUDUHUDU: Residents of Diphuduhudu and surrounding areas will continue to live in huts built of grass and tree branches unless the government intervenes to provide material for them to build houses, the Member of Parliament for Letlhakeng West, Liakak Kably has said.

During the Diphuduhudu poverty eradication workshop held last week, he pleaded with government to provide river sand for rural area dwellers in his area. "Owning a proper house will remain a dream for many due to lack of river sand in the area. Please give residents river sand to build houses because unless the government intervenes they will continue to suffer from harsh weather conditions, without houses," he said.

"People have nowhere to go during rainy season.  Most houses in the area are built of grass, sticks and tree branches. People this side need help especially that Letlhakeng West has been identified as one of the most poverty stricken areas in the country," he said. "There should be programmes to help these people before it is too late," he continued.
