Lobatse Magistrate Court has granted bail to a 32-year-old woman accused of killing her boyfriend. This was not the first time she had reportedly stabbed him, only this time she took his life.

Tebogo Motsatsi Kaosane appeared before court on Tuesday charged with the murder of her boyfriend. The Goodhope woman is accused of allegedly killing her 27-year-old boyfriend on Saturday.

Her charge sheet states: “The accused person, Tebogo Motsatsi Kasaone , on or about the 13th May 2023 between the hours 0330 and 0430 hours, at Gakhudu Ward, Goodhope, in the southern administrative district of the republic of Botswana murdered Katlego Mohiko.”

According to information reaching Mmegi Online, the couple had been arguing over money that the woman had lost after gambling. “She lost the game of cards and the partner got infuriated at the loss of money,” our source said.

The pair allegedly left the drinking hole still arguing. She reportedly stabbed him at their home. In court on Tuesday the State attempted to oppose her bail but failed. The State put it to the presiding Magistrate Gofaone Morweng that the couple had another case before the police where the accused woman had allegedly stabbed the deceased, this time he allegedly took his life.

The State said that they were yet to record statements in the previous matter.

The Magistrate was not convinced, in the end she was granted granted P5000 cash bail and that she should report herself at Goodhope police station every Friday between 8am and 1630 hours.

Next mention has been set for May 30; case continues.
