'Ghost' UB Lecturer Causes Storm

The University of Botswana (UB) is reeling from a major employment blunder after it emerged that it has been paying a 'ghost' lecturer employed by a United States university.

It is alleged that Professor Elius Mpofu, who left the UB's Faculty of Education last year, has been drawing a salary while also employed by the Pennstate University in the United States of America (US).

"There has been an anomaly in the contractual arrangement concerning this matter," said UB public affairs director, Samuel Moribame, when contacted for comment over the weekend. "The university has been closely seized with this matter for some time with a view to acting resolutely to resolve the matter in the best interests of the university and the other party," he added.
