GCC turns to Sweden for help in waste management

After struggling with waste for several months, Gaborone City Council (GCC) has turned to Sweden for help.

The Swedes from the city of Vasteras have been in the country since Monday to discuss ways of managing Gaborone's waste problems.

The delegation that leaves tomorrow consists of the mayor and chief executive officer of Vasteras, a waste management expert and an international waste coordinator. GCC mayor, Haskins Nkayigwa told the delegation yesterday that as a growing city, Gaborone lacks resources and a landfill.
