Gaborone City Council has implemented paving of roads, lining of drains and construction of primary school boundaries as 'more sustainable' projects into the Ipelegeng programme.

When opening council this week, Mayor Haskins Nkaigwa said that this financial year, they have 150 projects to roll out, adding that of these 109 are ongoing, while 41 are yet to commence.

He indicated that from the projects, almost 4,000 people have been engaged, with just over 900 of them being women. However, he indicated that the council is still in need of more people as they fail to meet the monthly employment quota, which stands at 3,000.
