GCC councillors task govt to seek alternative beef markets

Gaborone City Councillors have taken the government to task over acceding to European Union requirements over beef exports, suggesting the need for alternative markets.

Addressing Assistant Minister of Agriculture Oreeditse Molebatsi yesterday, the councillors enquired why government is allowing the EU to dictate terms over the export of beef.

Nkaigwa's concern was that the loss-making Botswana Meat Commission (BMC) would not make any profits even after meeting the EU recommendations.
