FRANCISTOWN: "This is Galo FM! Come and see for yourself. You are missing out," says Keo Ditshane, mimicking radio jockeys over a loudspeaker opposite Galo shopping complex.

The 32-year old man who is increasingly becoming popular in the town, spends the day hogging the city's uncontested airwaves selling sim cards, and sometimes memory cards, card readers and memory sticks.

He is one vendor of a kind. He has customers and fans. "When passing by, my customers and fans would shout 'Galo FM' and the name stuck. I am currently using it to please my customers," says Ditshane. Ditshane relates that he started his business of selling sim cards last September calling himself 'Kgosi ya Galo from the Ministry of Sim Cards'. But business got brisk when he introduced the use of loudspeakers to announce his bouquet of products and services.
