Gaborone to attempt fifith term

The incumbent chairperson of the Ntlo Ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Puso Gaborone of the Batlokwa, has indicated that he wants a shot at a fifth term in the position.

Speakingto The Monitoron Friday, ahead of the 11th meeting of the 2nd Ntlo Ya Dikgosi, Kgosi Puso said he would "gladly accept" nomination for the position if members still feel that he has the qualities to lead the house. "If a person has good leadership qualities, then others can see those qualities. If [members] think I have leadership qualities, they will nominate me," he said.

Members of the house are expected to nominate and elect a Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson on January 28th, before the house can proceed with normal business. The Batlokwa Kgosi became Chairperson of the house in 2009, when he beat then Chair Kgosi Seepapitso IV of the Bangwaketse to the position.  Before that, he served as the Deputy Chairperson of the house. The current deputy chair of the house is Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II of the Barolong.
