Gaborone retains leadership of Ntlo ya Dikgosi

Kgosi Puso Gaborone of the Batlokwa yesterday retained his position as Chairperson of Ntlo ya Dikgosi.

He was ushered into the position, which he has held since 2009, unopposed at the official opening of the 11th meeting of the 2nd Ntlo ya Dikgosi. This was after members declined to second the nomination of Kgosi Thabo Masunga to the position by Kgosi Moeti II.  Kgosi Tshipe Tshipe of Mahalapye region was voted Deputy Chairperson, taking over from Kgosi Lotlaamoreng II of the Barolong.

Kgosi Tshipe cemented his position in a second round of voting which pitted him against Kgosi Oreagetse Machilidza of Boteti. Kgosi Tshipe received 17 votes, only two votes ahead of the Boteti region Kgosi. One member of the House chose to abstain from voting.
