Omphitlhetse Ngwanaamonna told Monitor at Ginger Mall that the operation to clean up the city started a month ago. He said that they are acting on a court order after numerous attempts to have owners of such structures improve on them failed to bear any fruit.

"We are targeting abandoned structures in some public areas which have been left idle and are now creating a litter problem for us. We want to keep Gaborone city clean and we have made efforts to have people keep their surroundings clean but without much success," Ngwanaamonna said.
