The Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) internal wranglings at the Gaborone Bonnington South constituency is one of the reasons why chairperson, Sydney Mooki resigned from the branch committee.

This comes at a critical time when the party is heading for Gaborone Bonnington South constituency's Bophirima ward by-election, which writ will be announced soon. Bophirima ward councillor Kagiso Mongwaketse's passing last month left the council seat vacant.

According to Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) Act, a by-election should be held within three months after the death or resignation of a councillor. It's unfortunate that differences within the branch committee turn this way when we are heading for a by-election next month.
