Fuel Prices Increased

Government has increased the prices of both unleaded and leaded replacement petrol by 25 thebe per litre; diesel by 20 thebe per litre while illuminating paraffin has gone up by 20 thebe per litre.

This adjustment, announced on Saturday, follows the last price increase on July 1. Government says the hike is due to the increase in the price of crude oil in the international markets. Prices for the period under review have been fluctuating around US$80 per barrel at the end of October this year. This has resulted in a negative effect on the slate.

A Ministry of Minerals, Energy and Water Resources statement says the government will continue to monitor the development of prices of oil products in both regional and international markets to ensure optimal prices to both the general public and the fuel supply industry.
