FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City Councillors have refused to relinquish their allowances to undertake an educational tour in the Chobe area.

In a debate on the issue, the councillors were unanimous that the trip should be postponed if there was no money for it. The councillors questioned why they should be asked to relinquish their allowances if the trip had been budgeted for.

Councillor James Kgalajwe said the importance of the trip would have to be weighed against other council responsibilities. "If there is no money there is no trip because it does not seem right for the councillors to waive their allowances," he said.
