F/town airport has no cost overruns - CAA

FRANCISTOWN: Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)'s public affairs manager, Modipe Nkwe has said that there are no cost overruns at Francistown Airport project.

Responding to a Mmegi article titled "Over P100 million cost overruns for Francistown airport", he said contrary to the article, Francistown airport project is within its budget. In a letter to Mmegi, it said that the total amount approved for the airport was P523,597 million. It stated that there is currently no indication to suggest a cost overrun of the approved amount.

In a summary of the works at the airport, package I construction of the new runway of 3000m long, taxi way and new apron, security fence and drainage which shall be complete on May 2011 amounts to P222.67 million.
