French teachers get pat on back

French teaching will help Botswana find the place it deserves within the African continent, the ambassador of France to Botswana said at an occasion in honour of Batswana teachers sponsored by the French government.

Ambassador Jean-Pierre Courtois said in Gaborone on Monday that French teaching is bound to play an essential role for the rapprochement between the two countries.
He said Botswana and France have decided to launch a joint project with the gradual generalisation of French teaching throughout secondary education. He said that this should ensure the efficiency and global cover, which were lacking but were a fundamental condition of its success.

Teachers were awarded a scholarship to spend one year of training in the Reunion while others are expected to leave next week for the Indian Ocean island.
