FRANCISTOWN: The Francistown South Constituency, in partnership with the Funeral Services Group (FSG), launched Francistown South Burial Society at Chedu Choga ground last week.

Speaking at the launch, Francistown South Member of Parliament (MP) Wynter Mmolotsi said that he mooted the idea in 2003 after realising that the death rate in the area was high.

"I came up with the idea back in 2003 together with my fellow MPs, who included the Mayor Shadreck Nyeku and councillor Stephen Michael after realising that the death rate was very high then, but the idea would not come to fruition due to various reasons," said Mmolotsi. He added that what pained him most was to see relatives at funerals who did not have anything to help them bury their loved ones with dignity, as well as incurring huge debts which left them bankrupt and turned them into a laughing stock.
