Four murder suspects remanded

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Four people have been remanded in custody in connection with investigations into the murder of Michael Bontsi who was attacked by unknown assailants at Makhubu Club recently.

Twenty-seven year old Bontsi (27) of Tonota was an employee of the Selebi-Phikwe Magistrates Court. Confirming this to Mmegi this week, the Commander of Selebi-Phikwe Police Station, Superintendent Victor Nlebesi, said investigations were at an early stage. "The police, who were on patrol, found the deceased bleeding and took him to the Government Hospital where he was subsequently transferred to Princess Marina Hospital in Gaborone," Nlebesi said. "The victim died three days after the attack and was buried in Tonota over the weekend."

He said it was clear that there was something illegal going on at Makhubu Club on the day of the attack and that the deceased was attacked at 1am, two hours after the nightclub in question should have been closed.
