Form Fours moved to decongest schools

The Ministry of Education and Skills Development has moved 566 Form Four students from the senior secondary schools they were originally admitted to, to other boarding schools in a bid to combat overcrowding.

Speaking to Mmegi in an interview, public relations officer (PRO), Godfrey Kalanke said the number of students moved is only 2.3 percent of the total admitted to senior secondary schools. Kalanke said the boarding schools the scholars are being moved to have this year admitted fewer students than they normally take.

"Initially, the criteria for admitting students to senior schools was that the students had to be within the catchment area," Kalanke said.  He said this means that the students have to be from junior secondary schools closest to a particular senior secondary school.
