Forgery accused garage owner remanded

A Zimbabwean garage owner, John Marufu, who is facing forgery charges, was remanded in custody on Friday when he appeared for mention.

Prosecutor Inspector Moathodi Seabonyane said Marufu failed to meet his bail conditions, one of which was to pay P3, 000 and produce two sureties of P500 each.

Marufu, who appeared for mention at the Village Magistrate Court, had pleaded guilty to the two counts during a previous hearing. On Friday, he said he wanted to change his plea.  However, Gaborone Magistrate Cele Motlaleng told him that he could do so during the next mention.
