Forensic pathologists are a rare species - Tsimako

The Botswana Police Service has only one Motswana forensic pathologist and like the rest of the Southern African region, it is experiencing a shortage of forensic pathologists. The police rely heavily on developed countries for the training of these experts.

This emerged during an Inaugural Pathology Forensic Forum attended by officials from Africa and overseas, including the International Criminal Court in Hague.

Welcoming the guests, Botswana Police Commissioner, Thebeyame Tsimako, said the police service has four forensic pathologists and only one of them is a Motswana.
