Foreigners have ripped us off, Khama says

President Ian Khama has admitted that foreigners have ripped-off millions from Batswana in several botched projects and maladministration.

“Batswana we have been ripped off by foreigners (re jelwe ke batswakwa) and there is nothing we can do,” Khama said at a Kgotla meeting in Tlokweng yesterday.

He cited the Palapye glass project, the delayed Sir Seretse Khama International Airport renovations and the construction of Shakawe Senior Secondary School and maladministration at the Botswana Meat Commission (BMC). He said there is no hope of recovering the lost money.
