Since the outbreak of the FMD in the north of the country over the weekend,travelling has been a nightmare for many people as they are forced to wait for hours in long queues to allow veterinary officers to inspect and even confiscate beef and dairy products.

FRANCISTOWN: The suspected Foot and Mouth Disease (FMD) outbreak near Matsiloje may have been transmitted through illegal trafficking of animal products across the border, says a senior veterinary expert.

Speaking to Mmegi yesterday, principal veterinary officer for the North East District, Dr Waweru Muchina explained:" We don't know how the FMD came about, but it could have been transmitted through illegal trafficking of animal products across the border.
