Fleeing Prisoner Kills Policeman, Another Prisoner

FRANCISTOWN: A fleeing prisoner has caused the death of a police officer and another prisoner as he broke out of police custody during transportation to prison on Thursday. Multiple convict, Gobuamang Ntsuane, 30, was wrestling with the driver for the wheel, resulting in the car swerving off the road, killing one officer and prisoner on remand in the process while injuring several other officers and prisoners.

Police sources told The Monitor that Ntsuape incurred minor injuries to his head and they expect him to appear in court on Monday to face additional charges ranging from murder, causing serious bodily harm and traffic-related offences.

Superintendent Edward Leposo, station commander of Gerald Estate police, confirmed the fatal accident.
