Five candidates for Bosele ward

Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) spokesperson, Osupile Maroba, says five names have been nominated to contest for Bosele ward by-election at Gaborone North constituency.

According to Maroba, those who submitted names include Botswana Congress Party (BCP), Umbrella for Democratic Change (UDC), Botswana Labour Party (BLP), Botswana Democratic Party (BDP) and one independent candidate. While for Grootlaagte ward in the Ghanzi North constituency, only four people have submitted their names for nominations and those are BDP, UDC, and Botswana Movement for Democracy (BMD) and an independent candidate. BCP spokesperson, Mpho Pheko, said her party will be represented by Kaelo Kgomotso for Bosele ward. The BDP will be represented by Isaac Moseki, UDC will be represented by Mpule Maplanka, while the BLP will be represented by Sesupo Helen Olebile.

Three candidates will contest for Grootlaage ward in Gantsi North, namely: Sehakgamaleng Tjitemisa (UDC), Petro Moretlwa (BDP), Kopanelo Theko (BMD), and Jacob Malesele (Independent Candidate . The positions for the two wards became vacant after the death of the area councillors. The by-election for the two wards will be held on March 27, 2023.
