Firm fails to overturn tender award

The Court of Appeal has dismissed an attempt by a company to overturn a tender awarded to a rival for the maintenance of equipment for producing driving licences and civil servants' name-tags.

Eye-D Systems has challenged the award of the tender to Systems Consultancy by the Department of Road and Transport Safety (DRTS) through the Public Procurement and Asset  Disposal Board (PPADB). Justice Singh Walia of the High Court dismissed Eye-D Systems case before the matter was taken to the Court of Appeal which upheld the judge's decision.

"It follows from the foregoing considerations that the learned judge was justified in coming to the conclusions fully set out in paragraph seven. Accordingly, the appeal falls to be dismissed with costs," the Court of Appeal ruled. Justice Walia dismissed the case saying he realised that the hardware required to be produced by Eye-D Systems; and Systems Consultancy and Services was a camera, card printer and signature pad.
