SEROWE: The Fire Department in the Central District Council (CDC) recently held a series of fire expositions at all the sub-district councils in the region.

CDC's senior public relations officer, Oaitse Serite, said in an interview that the expos were arranged to educate people on the dangers that can cause fire, how to respond to a fire, understanding fire prevention and how to practice good housekeeping with regard to fire prevention.

Serite said the expos were inspired by a significant number of accidental fires reported over the last few years. "In addition to the high incidents of fire in the district, the absence of adequate fire coverage throughout CDC was also taken into consideration. A decision was made to execute the activity namely, Fire Expo 2013 to conduct a series of fire prevention and awareness education throughout CDC's sub-districts," said Serite.
