Fight 'red' stigma - NGOs told

FRANCISTOWN: The assistant resident representative of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), Rebonyebatho Moaneng, has urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to reach out to their constituents to reduce the chances of local NGOs being red-labelled as representing foreign interests or being anti-government.

"NGOs must make Batswana understand their role in development and it is only through an outreach programme such as the NGO Week that this can happen," he said.

He said he was certain that if all development agents were to focus their energies on the Millennium Development Goals (MDGs) and Vision 2016, Botswana would become one of the most successful nations in the world.
