FCC to keep govt on toes about priority projects - Kgalajwe

FRANCISTOWN: Francistown City mayor James Kgalajwe says that his council will continue pushing government to fund their priority projects.

Kgalajwe said that they will not give in because these projects are ones that are critical to the well being of residents of this city. Late last year the mayor and his delegation met various ministers to discuss projects that are lagging behind. He said they were informed that there isn't enough money for the NDP10 that ends in 2016.

The projects include a District Hospital, Gerald Junior Secondary School, Expansion of Internal Roads and the critical storm water drainage project, collectively at a cost of P940 million.  Kgalajwe said that although government claims there are insufficient funds, they will not stop pushing. He said in December they managed to meet with Vice-President Ponatshego Kedikilwe and told him about the prioritised projects.  "We have discussed this matter with him and he seemed to understand our viewpoint," he said.  "We need a district hospital because we all know of the congestion of the Nyangabgwe Referral Hospital (NRH) and we need a hospital that will take the pressure of NRH so that it can efficiently carry out its duties of referral hospital.
