FCC meeting interrupted by strikers

FRANCISTOWN: Striking workers interrupted a full council meeting yesterday, as they demanded to see the city clerk for their termination letters of employment.

The workers were accompanied by the police when they arrived at the civic centre as the mayor, Shadrack Nyeku adjourned the meeting to accompany the city clerk to addressing the distraught employees.

"We seem to have an emergency as the strike participants and the police are outside the building and they want to see the city clerk so we have to adjourn the meeting so we can meet them," said Nyeku.
