Fantasy comes to Gaborone homeowners

A new fantasy life-style built around the idea of automated security is taking root in Gaborone.

It involves an intelligent house that does not only switch its lighting system on and off but knows when to water the garden. The house tells its owner via sms or the Internet what activities are taking place in it. The man behind the initiative is IT expert Mike Delport and his company Automation Intelligence.

Delport says a number of Gaborone big wigs and companies, eager to improve security at their premises, have already sourced his services. He says automation intelligence can do just whatever one wants for his or her house. "It can heat your water in the morning, fill up your bath tub, open the curtains, put your music system on, alarm the house, and keep you posted via sms about the goings-on at your house.  It is also capable of allowing the house owner to speak to someone who is knocking at the gate via a cell phone as if the house owner is in the house," says Delport. He reveals that the technology allows a person to log onto the Internet from anywhere in the world and check what is going on at home. "Since we opened shop, a number of companies have approached us fascinated by what we are bringing here and we have started a few jobs at people's homes and some at business premises. Of course I cannot tell you which people have engaged us, for security reasons, but the overall picture is satisfying," Delport says.
