BOBONONG: Bobirwa Sub District has overtaken Ngami and Chobe in malaria cases. According to the District Health Management Team Coordinator, Dr George Rubanga, 14 cases have already been confirmed at halfway through the season.

Rubanga has attributed the situation to laxity in a region which is traditionally not prone to malaria.
"The area is experiencing more cases of malaria and is leading in the country because in past years, intervention was radical in Chobe and Ngami areas," he said.

"The same was not done in Bobirwa because malaria cases here were only viewed as seasonal outbreaks."  He was speaking at a consultative meeting between heads of department and the MP for Bobirwa, Shaw Kgathi, here yesterday.
