Expert talks post-conflict reconstruction cons

While conflicts in Africa have been reduced by more than half in the last two decades, post-strife reconstruction in affected countries remains an uphill battle, says senior research fellow at the South African-based Institute for Security Studies (ISS), Dr Cheryl Hendricks.

The researcher told SABC International over the weekend that deterioration of the social fabric and redirection of finances to war are some of the problems associated with conflicts.

She was speaking as African leaders met in Kenya to discuss the latest flare up in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).
