Exit of police officers creates DPP workload woes

Police Officers have been a crucial part of prosecution in the country for a long time working with the Directorate of Public Prosecutions (DPP) especially in fresh matters.

Until recently the officers have been appearing in courts as prosecutors on behalf of DPP, but now they are reportedly sifting focus to their core mandate of investigation leaving the DPP to struggle with the increase of workload. 

Appearing before the Public Accounts Committee recently, director of Public Prosecutions, Stephen Tiroyakgosi confirmed that it has not been easy for the DPP, as the workload has increased.
