Ex-presidents meeting with Khama still pending

Former presidents Sir Ketumile Masire and Festus Mogae have not yet met President Ian Khama over a request by trade unions for their intervention in the on-going industrial strike.

In an interview with Mmegi yesterday, Baphasi Mphusu private secretary to Mogae, said his boss arrived in Botswana late last night. "I am not sure if he is aware of the request," he said.

Meanwhile Masire's private secretary Kagiso Sentle said perhaps the request for the presidents to intervene by meeting Khama over workers' conditions "might be on its way," he said.
