Ex-mayor denies lying low

SELEBI-PHIKWE: Former Selebi-Phikwe mayor Molosiwa Molosiwa has been rarely seen around town since he lost the seat in January this year. However, the Hospital ward councilor insists he is very much around, and the only difference is that he no longer attracts the attention he used to when he was mayor. He said when he was mayor, he used to get many greetings whenever he walked the streets.

He said that he is now busy and deeply absorbed in his company, Kabomo Earthworks that deals with hiring of tipper trucks and provision of security services. "I am busy marketing my company and doing much of my church work," he told Mmegi.
Molosiwa stressed that though his schedule is very tight as he dedicates most of his time to the company, he has not distanced himself from politics.
There had been allegations that the former mayor has now toned down his activities in the ruling Botswana Democratic Party (BDP).
"I am very active in the party and I will be contesting to retain my ward in the coming general elections. Currently I am busy in house-to-house campaigns in the ward," he said.
Molosiwa indicated that he personally does not have any problem contesting the mayoral seat next year as he is available for any party position. However, he stated that everything will be determined by the decision of councillors.
