Eswatini must be suspended from SADC -BNF

STATEMENT: Botswana National Front (BNF) strongly condemns the brutal assassination of Cde Thulani Rudolf Maseko on the 21st January 2023, and calls for the immediate suspension of eSwatini from the Southern African Development Community (SADC).

Maseko was a renowned human rights activist lawyer and multi stakeholder forum chairperson. The Swati comrade was a fearless advocate for political and constitutional reforms that were to lead to a constitutional democracy. Around 2014, Maseko was imprisoned for two years for his human rights activism by King Mswati's government and was released after an international campaign. T

his time around, Maseko was billed to participate live on Swaziland News dialogue on Sunday 22nd January 2023 on the state of eSwatini and 2023 Tinkhundla elections. It is this advocacy and lobbying for democratic reforms and social justice that led to his ultimate demise at the hands of the brutal regime.
