Essential services staff refuse to go back to work

Essential services staff have defied the Industrial Court order that they go back to work with immediate effect because their participation in the ongoing civil servants' strike is unlawful.

Taking to the podium at the Gaborone Senior Secondary School grounds yesterday, one doctor said that they have resolved not to return to work until the 16 percent salary increment demand by civil servants has been met.

"They are threatening us with disciplinary hearing and if they write us those letters, we will respond by resigning and let us see if they will be able to afford to pay us then," he said. He stated that they would not be easily intimidated by threats from government.
