'Environment, clean days' to be commemorated tomorrow

World Environment and Botswana Clean Days are set to be commemorated together tomorrow at the Lobatse Stadium.

The hosts, Department of Environmental Affairs (DEA) in the Ministry of Environment Wildlife and Tourism will celebrate the day under the theme, "Your Planet Needs You-Unite To Combat Climate Change." The theme will focus on issues of climate change and global warming which pose a serious threat to humankind.

In Botswana the theme is further translated into a national theme,  "Best Environmental Practices in Development" while for the clean day, the theme will be "Your environment needs your protection." The themes emphasise the need for institutions, organisations, individuals and the nation at large to adopt practices that enhance the integrity of the environment placing concerted efforts on reducing environmental degradation through individual and collective responsibility.
