Encourage electorate to utilise govt schemes - Makhura

Kgatleng District civic leaders have been urged by the council chairperson, Stephen Makhura, to approach the 2012-2013 financial year with a different mindset, enthusiasm and zeal.

He further advised them to work as a team, despite their different political denominations. Makhura has informed the council that the development budget for KDC stands at P52,927,432, which he said is meant to cater for the final accounts of various projects which include primary schools backlog eradication at Dikwidid, Kgabotshwene, Letsebe, Rankoa, and Sikwane primary schools at P500,000. Among other things is the design of Boseja new primary school at P3,857,000; Lokgalo Bridge at P2,365,000 and completition of Morwa - Mmapole Bridge and associated approach roads at P11,137,000.  The funds will also cover Labour Intensive Public Works (Ipelegeng) at P12,165,432, construction of storm water channels for Mochudi/Pilane internal roads at P12,903,000 and purchase of equipment for Mochudi fire station at P10,000.

The civic leader further revealed that KDC has not been undertaken new projects since the advent of the ongoing economic downturn. "The P52,927,432 is mainly meant for completition of ongoing projects and also to cushion our communities from the harsh socio-economic effects of the economic downturn, is a testimony to the reality the whole world is experiencing", he explained. Meanwhile he alerted the councilors that the economic recession is still to hover for some time. He informed his fellow civic leaders to continue strengthening and making introspection of internal operative mechanisms, so that some sense of self reliance and self development will continue to be instilled among communities to stand up and fend for themselves.
