Embassy commemorates terror attacks

As the United States commemorates the 10th anniversary of the terror attacks orchestrated by the late Osama Bin Laden and his Al Qaeda, the US says it will not let fear dominate the lives of its people.

Speaking at the commemoration held at the embassy offices in Gaborone, US ambassador to Botswana, Michelle Gavin, said they were remembering the more than 3,000 people who perished in the twin towers attack together with the more than 1,000 relatives of the victims, who have been affected as a result.

Asked by the media how ready the US is especially in light of talk that intelligence picked up some information suggesting that terrorists were planning new terror attacks against the worlds most powerful nation, Gavin said "around the world there is always a threat of attack. The US is always ready to prevent attacks, but we will not let fear dominate our lives," she said.
