Eligible Voters In Last Minute Rush To Register

It has become evident that a lot of Batswana prefer doing things last minute. A number of polling stations that The Monitor visited on Saturday and Sunday experienced the longest queues since the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) registration started.

However, despite the last minute rush the IEC still failed to reach its set target to register 1,592,350 eligible voters for the 2019 general elections.

Registration ended yesterday with some people not motivated to vote. By November 4, 2018 only 566,946 had registered to vote and it became clear that there is need for supplementary registration.
