MOCHUDI: In a dramatic turn of events here yesterday, two Botswana National Front (BNF) councillors, Tona Mooketsi and Boyce Tladi, both contested for the position of chairman of the Kgatleng District Council (KDC).

Mooketsi is the president of the BNF Youth League in Mochudi and councillor for Mosanta North while Tladi is the former deputy council chairman and councillor for Morwa.

Mooketsi garnered 14 votes while Tladi got 13 votes. Tladi was nominated by the Botswana Congress Party (BCP) Councillor for Boseja North, Peter Mogwera.  The position of deputy council chairman went to Botswana Democratic Party's (BDP)nominated councillor, Mpho Moruakgomo, who garnered 15 votes after he beat the former council chairman Stephen Makhura of the BCP, who got 11 votes.  Only one vote was damaged because the ballot paper had two names for the same position, being Moruakgomo and Makhura, as the council secretary Nelson Mogapi explained.
